The Power of the Blog

15/08/2017

Blogs. Last week I briefly touched upon the subject as part of a wider content marketing post, but didn’t have the time (or the acceptable word count) to cover it in too much detail. However, despite my persuasive reasoning, so many businesses are still dismissing the benefits that regular blog posts can do for digital marketing. Therefore, I think it’s time to get a little more in depth to really highlight the benefits that it can do for your brand!

You’re reading this for a reason after all, so let this blog post here tell you why you should start writing your own!

Keep things current

You might have the most stunningly designed website imaginable, but a lot of those pages are going to stay static for long periods of time. How are you supposed to keep your customers up to date with both your industry and what you’re doing? While Social Media is great for short bursts of information, long informative posts never do well on those sites. A blog lets you get much more in depth when making your point as well as enabling you to let your creative side go. Unlike on some other platforms, a blog can be much more informal so make you seem much friendlier to consumers.

Be an authority

One way to stand out from your competitors is to prove that you are an authority in your area of business. People are going to want to go to the expert in the area, and blogging is a great way to prove this. Publishing informative posts regularly can showcase the different areas that your business covers as well as proving that you know what you’re talking about. Blogs have recently been rated the fifth most trusted source for online information, so regular, well written and researched updates are a great way of putting you at the forefront of your area of business. Knowledge is power as they say.

Show your personality

Blogging is one of the best ways to let consumers get a feel for your personality as a business. Since blogging can be a much more personal way to write and provide information, it also allows for greater online interactions with your customer base. You can really show who you are as a business and let your personality shine through your writing style. There’s a reason we go for a more informal, slightly more humorous tone worth these posts (At least that’s what I’m going for. )

Blog for SEO

We all want more website visitors, and I’m sure you already know that one of the best ways to do that is through SEO. Fresh content is one of the best ways to get you more highly ranked on search engines and blogging is one of the best ways to do just that. Now you can push different keywords each week so Google and other search engines can rank you more highly in a number of different areas. After all, the more you optimise, the more likely you are to be found.
