Digital Work for the Season of Fright

03/10/2017

A very happy October to everyone from all of us at Revive. With the bright orange glow of Halloween on the horizon, Christmas gift sets slowly creeping into the shops and the pumpkins decorating everything from canvas bags to take-away coffee cups, autumn is truly in full swing. We’re finally in the last business quarter of the year, so it’s time for that last big digital push to end 2017 with a bang! (And we’re not just talking about the new year’s fireworks).

While this can be a frightening time of year, it doesn’t have to be for your business, so let’s have a look at some things you can do this month to make the most of the last few weeks of the year.

Don’t Let your SEO Shrivel to a Skeleton

If there’s one thing we talk a lot about on this blog, it’s search engines and, more importantly, how to make sure you’re ranking on them. 93% of all online experiences begin with a search engine and making sure that your business is ranking as highly as possible is crucial for getting discovered. No one wants to be stuck in the graveyard beyond page one of the search results, especially as we approach one of the busiest time of year for businesses.

Even the bare-bones of effort can increase your ranking significantly. Whether it’s making sure your website is full of well written and relevant content, to bidding on some relevant keywords, making sure SEO is always on your list of digital priorities is crucial.

Take Advantage of the Season

Since Autumn is fully in swing now, taking advantage of all this season has to offer to stay on trend is a great way to get people interested in your brand.

Recent research has shown that Ecommerce brands should be sending between 20-30 holiday related emails to increase revenue, and Halloween makes the perfect opportunity to do this. How many times have you seen the phrase ‘spooktacular’ or ‘Frighteningly good’ on social media or in general marketing around this time of year? Yes it’s cheesy, but it works.

Prepare for Christmas

People are generally in two camps when it comes to the festive season: ‘Don’t talk about it until December’, or, ‘You can never start too early!’

When it comes to business, unfortunately you have to put yourself in the mindset of the latter. December is possibly the most stressful time of year for a number of businesses, so you should at least have an outline of a Christmas plan by now. How are you going to take advantage of the season? How busy do you expect to get around this time of year? Have you even planned the Christmas party yet!!??

Soon the nights will be longer, the days colder and the stresses of the festive season upon us. But for now, we can at least make sure we’re prepared. Winter is coming after all.
